Just got engaged?

Here are my 8 tips you should do first when wedding planning…

  1. Celebrate the shit out of it, tell all your family and friends.

  2. Find your wedding photographer!! I know, I know it sounds biased, but the first thing to book is your wedding photographer because all the best ones during the peak months will be booked up! And anyway, it’s a super idea to get some engagement photos & they are great to use for your ‘save the date’ announcement!

  3. Set the date for your wedding & get inspired! Instagram and P’interest are great places to start.

  4. Figure out a rough budget; weddings are not cheap. Be realistic and stick to your budget! If you don’t have a budget, you will find costs soon spiral out of control.

  5. Figure out the numbers! Who do you want celebrating your big day with you? Rule of thumb – more guests = more expense!

  6. Set some priorities, you know the non-negotiables – if you have set your budget & you know your rough guest numbers then by setting the priorities you can allocate more budget to these and cut back on the ones you aren’t so bothered about if need be. They don’t have to be financial either, one of your non-negotiables could be having your pet dog at your wedding!

  7. So now you have figured out points 4 and 5, get the venue booked! This is totally up there with booking your photographer as number one priority! And if it’s a venue you are desperate to have, then it could mean changing point 3 if they are already booked up! Booking your venue is your starting point for booking the rest of your wedding suppliers now i.e. the caterers, flowers, DJ etc….

  8. Enjoy the process, it is fun and so flipping exciting! Sometimes it can get a little overwhelming so do talk to your suppliers, I offer support to my couples throughout, so do turn to them if you need help or just a chat!

Remember it’s your wedding, your way!
