Top 5 Questions all about my Couple’s Sessions!

If you are thinking of booking a couple’s session with me, or excitingly you have one booked with me already then read on to know what to expect. Any photography session can seem daunting so I have created the below questions based on the most commonly asked ones I get from my couples.

Why book a couple’s session? Every couple will have a different reason for booking a session; they can be to capture a proposal, or to celebrate a recent engagement. Some couples book one to use the images for their ‘Save the Dates’ or other announcements!

Actually you don’t need a reason, they are a perfect way to spend an hour or two making memories, reconnecting & you get beautiful images together that have not been taken in selfie mode on a mobile phone! And, just because!

  1. What’s your story? A good place to start is what do you want from your session, besides the obvious, what is the central theme, is it activity based i.e. hiking, farming - what are you into in your spare time and how do you want to come across in your photos - all wuthering heights romantic and wistful, or playful and fun.

  2. Can you suggest a location? Choosing your location for your session needn’t be overwhelming, I always suggest choose a location that reflects you both as a couple, like above if you love going on long hikes then an outdoor location is best. Think mountains, enchanting woodlands or even the beach! Maybe its a location that is special to you both, has meaning ~ did you get engaged there? Or maybe your both into exploring historic towns, think coffee shops and cool architectural backdrops! I have shot in many locations so can suggest a few if your are stuck! A talented photographer can turn any location into something wonderful!

  3. Can we bring our pet or/and use props? Absolutely, I always encourage my couples to bring their fur babies along! And, if you wish to include props then bring them, I am a huge fan of including props like hats, jewellery (engagement ring), umbrellas. Whatever you fancy, bring it, let’s include it.

  4. What should we wear? I always say wear what makes you feel good. If you want to look like glamorous film stars, or dress in hiking gear, then do! In order to feel comfortable and confident in your photos, stay true to who you are, if you never wear dresses, this might not be the time to! Avoid bold patterns, checks, large logo’s and stripes! It’s also good to compliment each others colours so you blend nicely together, or be completely contrasting.

  5. We don’t like having our photo taken, what can we expect? Don’t worry is my first advice, when we meet we will walk and talk. I always put my couples at ease so that when I do start shooting you will barely notice! I don’t put my couples in stagnant poses, I get my couples to move around in all sorts of ways and if needed, some gentle guidance may be given so you always look natural and flow together! It will be fun! I promise.
