Choosing a Wedding Venue

I am back!! What has seemed like a very quiet period for me I have in fact been a really busy bee with weddings, a holiday (a girls got to have a break) and a house move times two!!! Things are now quietening down and I can finally catch up!! So, what have I been up to, starting with a styled Autumn bridal shoot at Glyngynwydd Wedding Barn & Cottages. It was such an honour to be invited back for a second shoot here.

Choosing your wedding venue is so important and its generally the first decision you will make in your wedding planning, most brides have a vision in mind and if your looking for a rustic feel or festival themed wedding in the heart of the beautiful Mid Wales Countryside then look no further for your venue and get in touch with Carla McHugh you will get a warm welcome and pretty much a blank canvas to plan your wedding around.

So what are main tips for choosing your wedding venue?

Determine your wedding theme, this will clearly define what sort of venue you are looking for, if you are party lovers and like rocking it in your back garden with family & friends then a festival themed wedding could be up your street, best advice is choose a venue that makes you feel relaxed and at home!

Estimate how many guests will be coming, will the venue be big enough.

Budget, it will be one of your biggest spends but shouldn't be more than 50% of your overall budget!

Your wedding date; this could influence your choice of venue, check the date is available and prepare to be flexible if need be.

What sort of backdrop do you want for your wedding photos, a venue set in beautiful countryside is a perfect backdrop, the weather will always play a big part so always work with it, its not worth worrying about it. Mother Nature at her best!!

Are you looking for a weekend celebration, more and more couples are choosing remote venues with accommodation attached so loved ones can stay and celebrate with the couple for an entire weekend.

Don't book the first venue you visit, always shop around, see at least three and compare.

Lighting, important for your photographer, if too dark a venue it can be tricky for your photographer to capture all the details.

Transport - is the venue difficult to get to, is there onsite parking and consider how your guests will get from A to B.

Some venues have preferred suppliers, a good thing as the owners of the venue have 'vetted' the suppliers and they will know the ins and outs of the venue and so will give you the best service. Research your venue first read blogs etc so you can see suppliers' work.

Check if you will have exclusive use of the venue, larger country house venues may not offer this, weddings barns and retreats will.

Glyngwynwydd is set in its own 12 acres of land, which include woods, a pond, holiday cottages, amazing stone outbuildings there is plenty of scope for any theme! The barn is also a licensed venue for civil ceremonies, blessings, civil partnerships and renewal of vows.

Our beautiful bride wearing a strapless gown by Benjamin Roberts of Swansea in blush pink with ivory tulle with lace overlay and beautiful embellishment around the lowered waistline, kindly supplied by Castle Brides of Bishops Castle.

Serendipity Flowers & Events provided the bride's headdress and oversized freestyle bouquet truly showing off the colour nature gives us this time of year.

We did things a little quietly this time, as the last styled shoot we did we had a massive 18 suppliers involved..EPIC, this time other than the aforementioned we invited Horsebox Bar65 which is a gin bar in a horsebox!! A perfect addition to any outdoor wedding and events. SHOUT OUTS below.
